Varsity Swim Information for Edmond Meet

Attention Varsity Swimmers and Parents:
Please read the following information regarding the Edmond Meet, which is this coming up on Tuesday, November 17th.
All Varsity Swim families must complete this form online https://forms.gle/xGvXaARBanAxNbdD9 by Sunday, November 15th after reviewing the information provided in this email.
Meet Information: The meet will be held at the Mitch Park YMCA - 2901 Marilyn Williams Dr, Edmond, OK 73034. It will begin at 5:30 pm. Swimmers will be excused from any afternoon classes; Coach Adina will notify the BTW administration. We recommend that swimmers individually contact their teachers to let them know they'll be missing afternoon classes just as a heads up.
2 Lane Timers Needed
We have been asked to provide 2 lane timers. If you are planning on attending this meet, please consider signing up to time. Go to the Meets & Events page of the team and click on the green Job Signup link to sign up. Thanks!
Spectators: Edmond will allow 2 spectators per swimmer. At this time, we do not know if the meet will be live-streamed. Spectators must be parents, guardians or siblings that live in the same household. All spectators will need to be pre-registered via the Google Form linked above in this email. Non-registered spectators will not be allowed into the facility. Per the Edmond Schools Head Swim Coach:
Meet COVID-19 Rules:We require masks for all participants and spectators at all times, and we ask that you DO NOT enter our facility if you have any of the following symptoms or exposure risks:
1. A fever
2. A cough
3. A sore throat
4. Loss of smell or taste
5. Shortness of breath
6. Close contact w/ a person who tested positive for Covid-19
DISCLAIMER: Edmond Public Schools cannot guarantee the spread of Covid-19 for those attending our athletic events. Therefore, by attending this meet in our facility, you assume all risks of exposure and release any and all entities involved in its production from liability. MASKS MUST BE WORN BY BOTH PARTICIPANTS(until on the block and out of the water) AND SPECTATORS AT ALL TIMES- no exceptions.
Each school will be assigned on deck athlete bleachers and grandstand seating by school. Each school will be required to sit in their assigned spot spreading out on bleacher markings.
In addition, if anyone in attendance of this event tests positive for Covid-19 within 10 days of attending this event, that person will notify Coach Heather Devoe ([email protected]) of the exposure and positive test result.
Please review the information provided by the Edmond Schools Head coach regarding Covid-19 rules and procedures that will be followed:
- All swimmers will remain downstairs in the pool area. No swimmer will be allowed upstairs. No parent will be allowed downstairs in the pool area.
- All swimmers and coaches are required to wear a mask at all times unless the swimmer is racing
- Additionally, all practice and meet protocols established by BTW coaches will also be in effect. This includes swimmers remaining in their seats to cheer on teammates, and only one counter will be allowed for the 400 free event.
- Relay swimmers should keep their masks on until their turn to swim, and should put their mask on as soon as possible after exiting the pool.
All swimmers will be riding a TPS bus to the meet.
Swimmers must arrive at the Education Service Center, located at 3027 S. New Haven Ave. Tulsa, OK 74114 by 1:15 pm. The bus will leave at 1:30 pm sharp and any swimmers not on the bus will be scratched from the meet. Please ensure you arrive on time at 1:15 pm as we will need to complete the required TPS Covid-19 forms and take temperatures before boarding the bus.
Swimmers will be able to ride home with a parent or guardian if they attend the meet as spectators. However, this must be noted on the attached google form no later than Wednesday, November 11th.
Please review the listed bus rules as provided by TPS:
- There is a limit of 24 passengers per bus allowing for one student/faculty per seat (we will have 20 swimmers and 4 coaches)
- Loading the bus, passengers must load from back to front
- All passengers will be required to wear face masks
- All windows must be rolled down unless there is inclement or cold weather
- All passengers must wait for the driver to step off the bus before loading and unloading
- Students and coaches must eat off the bus unless there is inclement weather
- If inclement weather is present:
- Students will be allowed to eat on the bus.
- Coaches are responsible for collecting trash and disposing of it.
- The only drinks allowed on the bus are water.
- Coaches must bring extra masks in case students lose their mask.
- No loud music is to be played on the bus. Students and coaches must wear headphones.
- Classroom conduct must be observed. This includes the use of foul language by students and coaches.
- There must be at least one adult chaperone per bus.
Swimmers must wear their team suits and orange pullover on the bus. You may bring clothes to change into after the meet, but we do not know if the locker rooms will be available for changing - we recommend you pack extra towels and a sweatshirt/pullover/hoodie and sweatpants for the ride home. Please bring extra water bottles and snacks for during the meet. Make sure that you have extra goggles, goggle straps, extra caps and a backup (last years or plain black) suit.
