Morning Varsity Practice Canceled / Combined Practice in Afternoon

    From the Coaching Staff

    BTW Swim Families,

Weather Note: Monday morning (12/14) practice for Varsity has been cancelled due to weather conditions. We will have a combined practice in the afternoon from 4 - 5:30 PM.

As we start to wrap up December, the coaches would like to make sure all of our swimmers are aware of our practice schedule and other events for the rest of the month. Please read the below information so your swimmers know when they should be at practice.

    Team Groupme
All swimmers should install GroupMe on their phones, and work with one of the older swimmers to get added to the team chat. The app is available both on the Apple Appstore and Google Play. We have a few new team members that are not in the groupme, and we use this for quick information and updates to the team. This is especially important as we get into winter where we may have late breaking practice changes or cancellations due to weather. It's also important while we continue to work through the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Please check with the coaches and/or an older swimmer if you're not sure how GroupMe works.

Secret Santa Gift Exchange/CelebrationThis past Friday we drew names for our Secret Santa gift exchange. All gifts should be no more than $15 - 20. If you participated in the gift exchange drawing, please bring your gift to practice on the 18th. If you won't be there, you may bring your gift to an earlier practice, or contact one of the coaches to arrange a pickup/dropoff elsewhere. We will hold your gift until you return to practice if you do not attend practice on the 18th. If you didn't draw a name on Friday, please reach out to Coach Jenn Salcher at [email protected] (I have one extra name that should have been drawn!) If you have any questions, please reach out to the team groupme and or any of the coaches. At the end of practice on Friday we will do the gift exchange and we have a couple of other items planned.

    Winter Break Schedule
There will be no practice the week of December 21 - December 25th.
Enjoy your Holidays, but be sure to "wear a mask", "wash your hands" and "watch your distance." We want all of our swim families to stay healthy!

We will resume practice the second week of break, December 28th - 31st. These will be combined practices. The schedule is:
    Monday Dec. 28/Tuesday Dec. 29/Wednesday Dec. 30: 7 - 10 AM
    Thursday Dec. 31: 7 - 11 AM
During our Thursday practice we will do the annual 100x100 Challenge. This is an opportunity for all our swimmers to test their endurance by doing a set of 100 100m swims (10 kilometers!). These will be set up with a mix of swim, pull, kick, etc. All swimmers who complete the challenge within the 4 hour timeframe will be honored as 2020 100 Club members and receive a special t-shirt.

Parents: We do need 4 volunteers to help count swimmer laps for the 100x100 Challenge. There is a job signup on the website calendar. Please remember you will need to wear a mask while on deck, and we recommend you bring a chair with you!

Winter break training is not mandatory, but we hope everyone makes an effort to attend as many (if not all) of the practices. It will be a great time to get to know your teammates and work on endurance and skills.

Our regular practice schedule will resume on Monday, January 4th.

    Distance/In-Person Return to School
Should TPS decide to return to In-Person school on Monday, January 4th (or some later date), we may need to adjust practice schedules yet again. If you are planning for your swimmer to remain in distance learning (or transfering to the TPS Virtual School at the semester) please let the coaches know as soon as possible by emailing [email protected]. There are restrictions on athletic eligibility with the TPS Virtual school, and we need to know if we'll have a mix of in-person and distance students for the remaining swim season.

    Thank you,
    BTW Swim Coaches
