BTW Swimmer's Weekly - Aug. 28, 2022
From the Coaches:
- Coming up this week: Looks like a little cooler weather this week so the team will be outside, all swimmers should bring dryland clothes and running shoes! Make sure to bring a water bottle!!! We will be back inside for dismissal at 3:35 pm.
- Absent during 7th hour? If a swimmer will be absent during 7th hour, parents should email [email protected]; any swimmers that need to leave early hour need to be called out by the attendance office.
- Coach Update: The process is ongoing.
- New Equipment: We're adding a new equipment requirement and all swimmers need to purchase a swim snorkel. Use the SwimOutlet store link (https://btwhornets.swimtopia.com/) on our swim site to purchase through SwimOutlet. Search for swim snorkels and choose one. We recommend the Finis Glide Swimmer's Swim Snorkel or the TYR Ultralight Swim Snorkel 2.0 as good (and on sale!) options.
- If you haven't purchased paddles or fins yet, you can get them through our swimquik store or swimoutlet (check swimquik for preferred options).
- If you haven't purchased a scuba board yet, you can get that here on amazon.
- We have mesh bags available for check-out - if any new team members would like to check one out, ask Coach Jenn.
- Team Swim Suit Update: We have chosen a new suit and will fit everyone once we get an updated fitting kit. However, due to ongoing supply chain disruptions, we may not receive our suits in time for the Jenks Scrimmage or our 1st meet on 11/1. If you are new to the team or last years suit does not fit, we recommend buying a plain black suit or jammer from either swimquik or swimoutlet. Girls suits cannot have a tie back. These will be good for practice throughout the year, but will be worn at the first couple of meets if our team suits don't arrive on time.
- Team Suits, Pullovers and team caps will be available for order on the swimquik site. As soon as your swimmer is fitted and the site is up, all families should order. We will open up swim-specific spirit wear shortly after that.
- In the water: We will start in the water on Monday, September 12th as a confirmed date! The week of Labor day we will do dryland on Wednesday and Friday.
- Team pictures: Will be Thursday September 8th so make sure to wear black bottoms (joggers, jeans, shorts or skirts) that day and bring your orange pullover (Seniors - bring your freshman year grey ones). For freshmen and new team members, we will share pullovers as each picture will be taken individually. We won't be done by dismissal (although we will try to get bus riders done first) so please arrange for pickup and or carpools.
News and Events:
1. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, September 13th. The annual Booster Club Parent Meeting will take place at 6:30 in the Seminar Room at BTW. It is important that each swimmer has at least one parent represented; among other things, we will vote on the budget for the 2022-2023 year.
2. We will be selling spirit-wear school wide to raise funds for the team. We are waiting for official sanctioning from the TPS School Board and are on the Sept. 6th agenda. We will post the link via email as well as team and school social media sites. Please be on the lookout for that.
3. The Booster Club has a few immediate volunteer needs:
- Team Communications - assist with weekly communications
- Fundraising Events/Set up Restaurant Meal Nights - we are looking for someone to assist our current coordinator and to take over late first semester or spring
- Additional positions will be announced
Please send an email to Sharon Catalano at [email protected] for additional information or if you would like to sign up for either of these volunteer opportunities.
