    BTW Swimmer's Weekly---October 30, 2022

    ***From the Booster Club***

    From the Coaches

    • Practice this week will be on a normal schedule.
    • Swimmers need to be prepared food/nutrition wise for the meet on Tuesday.
    • For the Union Invitational meet on Tuesday: All swimmers will report to the pool for 7th hour. Swimmers should wear their team jacket and black bottoms. They need to bring their swim bag with: Team suit (and backup), goggles (and backups), team caps, towels, parka, water bottles, food (not just snack food) - it will be a longer meet. The bus will leave BTW at 3pm. Swimmers are welcome to ride home from Union with parents, but MUST check out with the coaches before leaving. If swimmers have not yet turned in a signed parka form, we need those as soon as possible.
    • Looking ahead oin Monday, November 7th and Tuesday November 8th, even though school is out of session practices will be from 3 - 5:30pm. This means swimmers should arrive by 245 so we can start team stretching at 3pm, arriving at 3pm is late!

    • The first pasta party of the year will be Monday, November 14th at 6:00 at the Hutto's home. Please sign up for items to bring; visit the Meets & Events page on the swim site Meets & Events - Booker T. Washington Hornets Swimming and scroll down to the Pasta Party, then click on "Job Signup" to the right.
    • Everyone is invited to the team's first meet of the year this Tuesday at the Union 6th & 7th grade center. If you missed it on the event page, the Union Swim Team is encouraging an optional donation for the Tulsa Day Center - new items such as underwear and socks for both men and women can be purchased inexpensively at dollar stores, etc. Coaches will work with the seniors to coordinate collections for anyone wishing to donate from BTW.
    • The first BTW home meet of the season is Tuesday, November 15th vs. Owasso. Jobs are not yet open however, we would like to encourage parents now to volunteer to make this a successful meet. Tradition is that all senior parents are able to sit in the stands and enjoy watching their swimmer; we would like to ensure this continues. We have 9 seniors on the team. All underclassmen parents, please consider signing up to volunteer - needs are timers, ticket entrance, concessions, etc.
    • It may seem repetitive that we keep asking for timers. To show the importance of having two timers in all six lanes - at the Jenks scrimmage last week, there was one race in which none of the touch pads registered finishing times for the swimmers. We had to rely on the times written down by the timers in each lane.
    • Senior Night is coming up on November 15th. Senior swimmers should be working on the Google form sent to them by coach Jenn which asks for information to be included in the program including a photo. Please ask your swimmer about this and encourage them to complete it quickly.
    • Oct 31st is the deadline for ordering senior signs. They are $20 click here to purchase.
