BTW Swimmer's Weekly - February 25, 2024
February 25th
***From the Booster Club***
From the Coaches
- Swimmer of the Week: State week Swimmer of the Week was Cameron. Cameron had amazing swims both days. He worked really hard in the weeks leading up to state and set great goals for himself. He let the coaches know how important the relays were to him and he swam his heart out for both of his relay teams. Moving states and schools your sophomore year can't be easy but Cameron has fit into the team seamlessly and Booker T. is lucky to have him. His excitement about the sport of swimming is contagious and we can't wait to see what he will do in the next two years.
- I have asked the swimmers to let me know whether they plan to continue swimming next year. Parents, make sure you have had a conversation with your swimmers in regards to this.
- Tryouts: We will hold tryouts in early June for incoming and existing students. I will get with the juniors soon and pick a date so we can start getting the word out. Current swimmers will not need to tryout.
- Practice this week: It is time for us to get back into the water. I believe that our swimmers will only benefit from continuing to swim year-round and it is my goal to facilitate that. I am excited to get to work through technique in the coming weeks and continue to maintain a cardio base. This week's practice will be optional for state swimmers so that they can enjoy some down time. It will be mandatory for all the freshman thru juniors who plan to remain on the team next season. Club swimmers may practice with their club team as they move into club championship season.
We will try a swim/polo combo this week and see how it feels.- Monday, Tuesday and Thursday-Swim until 4:15
- Wednesday and Friday-optional water polo until 4:00-We will do some drills and teaching the new swimmers this week. No one is required to play polo. Coach V will be reffing. Any swimmer deemed to be too aggressive or physical will be removed from the game.
